Jeff Hutchins talks about the ethics we impart to our children as they become independent of us. It’s based on the advice he gave his younger daughter on the day she graduated from high school. Jeff hopes his talk, with advice for grown-ups, too, will be humorous and inspiring, but what are the odds?

Jeff also included some useful advice in the readings for the day. You can listen to those here:

Jeff is a lifelong Unitarian and humanist, and a frequent speaker at UU congregations. He has been honored as one of the pioneers of the closed-captioning service that makes television accessible to people who are deaf or hard of hearing. He was born in New York City, but grew up in Saudi Arabia. Jeff attended high school in Beirut, Lebanon, before going to Boston University, where he met his wife, Diane. Jeff and Diane are now retired and live in Black Mountain. He is the author of A Press Conference with God and Denton the Dragon in Tales of Bubbleland.
