Step into the clearing. Charles Grady served as part time minister of this congregation from 1990-1996 and lived with us for 20 more years. He described congregations as “clearings in the wilderness of this time. Places of refuge and sanctuary, healing and renewal.”
Charles died last year at the age of 91. On this Sunday before All Souls and Halloween and Dia de los Muertos, we remember the gifts and presence of our ancestors. We think of this as a time when “the veil is thin.” Charles’s wisdom comes through and reminds us of the thick connections that carry us forward together – through thick and thin.
