I’m a “new gal on the playground.” New to UUFH, to Unitarianism, to Hendersonville, and even new to North Carolina, having moved to Laurel Park from Palm Beach County, Florida on April 1st.
I love it here with the beautiful valleys and awesome mountains. Everyone is so friendly; especially the folks at UUFH. The services are positive and inspiring. The coffee and cookies after service are great, too. What an opportunity to mix, mingle, and share fellowship!
I’m an amateur musician. I play guitar, ukulele, and banjo uke. I also sing. I love old time country songs, songs from Tin Pan Alley and the “Great American Songbook.” I use singing as a way to feel happy, get air into my lungs, and chase the blues away.
For the past few years I have shared my music with residents of an assisted living home and clients at an Alzheimer’s day care. The UUFH Choir will be a great musical experience and education for me. The talented and skilled singers have lots to teach me about blending my voice with the choir. Their complicated arrangements are quite challenging.
I am very happy with my decision to move here. I am also very glad that I got involved with UUFH. You make me feel really welcome. I hope to find my little niche where I can make my small contribution to the Fellowship.
