Have you ever had the pleasure of sitting on the porch and shucking peas with friends or relatives? Well, we don’t shuck peas much anymore, but a group of us at UUFH enjoys sitting together and doing our hand work, either knitting or crocheting, and sharing conversation and a sense of community.

The UUFH Care Shawl Group meets in Fellowship Hall on the first Thursday each month from 10:00 am to noon to share and knit and/or crochet shawls and lap throws that are given to UUFH members and friends to offer caring and comfort during times of need. (Please contact the Pastoral Care associate for the month if you have a person you think could use some comfort.)

This year we will also be participating in the UUFH Craft Fair on December 5th. There will be hats, scarfs, and other knitted/crocheted items available for sale. Purchase a hat or scarf for yourself, for a Christmas gift, or to donate to the Christmas Mitten Tree. All proceeds from our group’s table will be donated to UUFH. So, mark your calendar and plan to stop by!

If you like to knit or crochet but can’t meet with us at our monthly time, that’s OK because you can still participate by giving your creations to the group to be added to our stash for sharing. Each item is distributed with a card of well wishes from UUFH.
