The Social Justice Outreach Team (SJOT) announces the yearly call for nominations for the UUFH Unsung Hero Award. The process and criteria are simple: those nominated for this award should be UUFH members who have made, and are making, a solid, continuing contribution to UUFH and/or the larger community.

A nominee’s contributions may not be generally well known or appreciated by many members of this congregation. We feel that all the work done by members ultimately contributes toward bringing justice to our work, and we want to make sure this work is recognized.

Please think about the folks you know in this congregation. Some one person may keep coming to your mind. If so, please don’t hesitate to place his or her name in nomination for this award. To place a person’s name in nomination, simply submit a one- or two-page summary telling us why you feel this person deserves this award. Include contact information for both yourself and your nominee. Address your nomination to the SJOT “UUFH Unsung Hero Award” Committee and leave it (in a sealed envelope)  in the SJOT folder on top of the black office file cabinet in front of Sandy’s desk. Submissions will be received through April 15.

The selection process is as follows: an appointed Committee will review the submissions, and a decision will be made by the end of April. A certificate will be presented to the Honoree at a pre-arranged service in May. Unsung Heroes in past years have included: 2007, Roxana White; 2008, Dick Hofer; 2009, Goody Hart; 2010, Sally Vice; 2011, Bonnie Arbuckle; and 2012, Suzy Camp-Goodman. No award was given out in years 2013 and 2014.
