Over the past year, in the UU tradition of sharing the pulpit, members and friends of UUFH have been finding their voices and bringing to our congregation deeply felt and carefully crafted reflections for Sunday morning worship. They participated in a homiletics (the art of preaching) seminar, one held in the fall of 2014 and one in the spring of 2015.
In January 2016 a new preaching seminar will be offered. The Rev. Joan Kahn-Schneider will facilitate the classes. Rev. Joan has served as minister to several UU congregations and has presented workshops on the crafting of worship services. She is also the author of a booklet on the art of preaching.
Rev. Joan will guide and support you in writing and presenting a sermon/reflection born of your own experiences and insights. You will also learn how to design the whole service, bringing all the elements of worship together to enhance the message of your sermon.
You are invited to explore the art of worship service planning among a supportive group of colleagues. If you would like to partake of this unique opportunity, please join Rev. Joan and some past participants at an informative preliminary meeting on Thursday, January 14, at 3:00pm (location TBA) to learn more and to address monthly dates, time and duration of the seminar.
