Fall has come to the mountains. Our RE Program has lots of great things planned for the coming weeks and months. If we haven’t seen you for a while, please join us! It’s always much more interesting and fun when more kids attend. All of our programming is planned to enhance our children’s and youths’ spiritual growth. Please take advantage of this opportunity that we provide to your family each week.
Youth Field Trip
On Nov. 8th, our youth will be visiting the Embracing Simplicity Hermitage Buddhist Center. There will be an opportunity to talk with the Monks about their faith. Lunch afterwards to discuss the visit. Please encourage your youth to join us! We will meet at 10:30 at UUFH.
Craft Fair Prep
Our RE Activity on Nov. 15th will be to create craft items to sell at the Dec. 5th UUFH Craft Fair. We need many hands to make light work of this important effort. This is a way for all ages to contribute to the Craft Fair and our Fellowship. The kids always love this event. Don’t miss it!
Middle School Youth Con
There is a Youth Con for our Middle School Youth at The Mountain on Nov. 19—Nov. 22. Youth Cons are a fun way to meet other UU Youth, and it’s always a great time at The Mountain! We will be joining the Brevard UU Youth. The cost is $100, and, as always, we happily provide scholarships for any of our youth who would like to attend! Please contact Vicki with any questions.
November 21 Toy Run
For the last 12 years or so the youth of this Fellowship have helped with the Henderson Country Toy Run. What a sight to see: 500 motorcycles bearing gifts as they arrive at the new courthouse. The riders place their toys on the courthouse steps, then our youth bag them up, load them into a truck, and help unload them at the DSS building. We help the children in Henderson County’s foster care program have a much merrier Christmas. Join us at 2:00pm!
Stone Soup Sunday
Our RE Program’s Thanksgiving gift to our Fellowship is our annual Stone Soup Luncheon on November 22. Our RE families host this event for all our members and friends. Guests are also welcome. Gwen Pernie will once again be coordinating this event, so look for e-mails about what you can bring and how you can help. This is a very special day for our congregation; please participate!
Solar Panels for UUFH
You may have noticed the new solar panels on our roof. If not, please look up when you arrive. It’s not too late to be a part of this green project. We will continue to accept donations for the solar panels until the end of the year. It doesn’t need to be a large donation. We simply want you to know that you helped make this happen!
