The world we live in today can be a little scary given all that has happened in the last few months. Our challenge as families is to look for places that give us comfort. The community we have created at UUFH can be that place of solace and support that we need in this complicated world. Each week we provide an opportunity for our children and youth to learn how to live lives that model our Seven Principles. Think about the concepts put forth in our principles: every person is important; people should be treated fairly and kindly; we should accept one another; each person must be free to search for what is true and right in life; all persons should have a voice; we should work together for a peaceful, fair, and free world; and that we believe in caring for our planet Earth. There is a common thread—mutual respect. These are wonderful guidelines that we can all follow as we go through life. The lessons our RE teachers are preparing each week are full of examples of how we can apply these principles daily. Please don’t miss this opportunity to come together to learn and grow. We are here for your family always.

January Multigenerational Potluck
Friday Jan. 15, 6-8 pm, Fellowship Hall
The goal of these potlucks is for all ages to get to know each other better. Please bring your own place settings and a dish to share. We will gather at 6pm for appetizers and conversation. Dinner at 6:30. We can use some help setting up tables at 5:30 if you are willing and able. We hope that you can join us!

UUSC Guest At Your Table
We ask that you return your Guest at Your Table box or envelope on January 17. Please count the change in your box and write a check payable to UUSC for that amount. For donations of $125 or more, matching funds will be provided by the UU Shelter Rock Congregation of Manhasset, NY—doubling the impact of your gift. Given all that is going on globally, this fundraiser is an important way for us all to come together and make a difference. If everyone helps we can do an incredible amount of good in the world.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Breakfast & Program
On Monday, Jan. 18, the 15th Annual MLK Unity Breakfast will take place at Blue Ridge Community College beginning at 8:30am. Our youth are invited to attend this breakfast and sit together. The speakers are always inspirational and the food is always good. And since the kids have the day off from school, this will be a great way for them to begin their day!
