The Henderson County DREAM Scholarship will support a local Henderson County youth who has/will graduate from (private or public) high school in Henderson County and who faces the mandate of out of state tuition costs at a public North Carolina college/university. The scholarship may also support someone who has demonstrated investment in our community by living or working in Henderson County for at least two years and faces the mandate of out of state tuition costs at a public North Carolina college/university.
Scholarships will be awarded to high quality candidates who will be evaluated on a variety of factors including GPA, test score, extracurricular activities and involvement, letters of recommendation, and documentation of financial need. Scholarships will be used primarily to support students working towards a certificate or degree program through the community college system; scholarship may also be used for another qualified/accredited institution of higher learning.
Scholarship selection will include an evaluation of the marketability of the candidate’s degree, with preference given to those candidates who are working towards a certification or degree that traditionally leads to employment.
