This piece is going to be shorter than usual, you can thank me later.  My foremost thought is to recognize the absolutely positive energy in our congregation.  Think of what you have accomplished in the past few months.  From the open spirit and generosity of our people, we have installed a lift to make the sanctuary accessible for everyone.  You have recognized the social justice issues embedded in the fight for a green planet and gone solar.  We have been sailing our blue boat home to provide the wherewithal to keep UUFH on course.

The Pledge Team stepped up and led our appeal with the mindset of the gifts we give one another and the gifts we receive; “You sail in me, I sail in you.” The Visibility Task Force is having a joyful time creating a communications plan that includes positive tag lines to get our message out.

The present board has been a joy to work with as they tackle solutions to the operation of UUFH with a can-do and creative attitude. It has been a joy to witness harmony in action in our meetings.

Getting Jim McKinley back in our midst has been a fluid and organic process, and the energy rolls on thanks to the work of the Sabbatical Team, the Worship Committee, Rev. Judith Long and the sabbatical ministers.

Lastly, Pat and I have long been fans of singer-song writer Kate Campbell who will be performing on Saturday, April 9, as part of the Bluegrass to Bach Concert Series. Kate is a Grammy nominated performer—check out her music on I-Tunes or YouTube. Her father, a progressive Baptist Minister, endowed her with a sense of respect for all human beings, a loving attitude toward all creation and a sense of the interconnectedness of all things.  She probably performs at more UU churches than traditional Christian settings.  She represents much of what you stand for, and is an incredible talent. You will laugh, think and empathize with her in songs such as “Funeral Food,” “Jesus and Tomatoes Coming Soon,” “Visions of Plenty,” and “Crazy in Alabama.” We hope that you will attend.

Keep up the wonderful, joyful and positive energy of our UUFH Community.
