The UUFH canvass for 2019 is well underway. We hope you have taken the opportunity to be a part of one of the canvass gatherings. The Canvass Committee has made every effort to include everyone in this year’s canvass by inviting you to gatherings. If, for some reason, you didn’t get an invitation, please let Ed Law, Canvass Chair, know and he will help you find a gathering to attend.

We appreciate the hosts who have opened their homes for this! It provides everyone with a chance to discuss what’s on their mind, what excites them about UUFH, and what improvements are needed. Several members of the canvass team will be at each of the gatherings to answer questions about the budget and the future of UUFH. With all the changes that are happening there is bound to be plenty to talk about at these get-togethers!

In order to attract a good, accredited interim minister, we must meet our very ambitious pledge goal of $218,353, which is a 17% increase over last year’s budget. The Interim Search Committee will be starting the process of sending out our application for an interim minister early in April, so please make your pledge as soon as possible. Ministers will be looking for a congregation that is financially strong and vital and will be most interested in how well we do with our canvass.

We were informed that, in our Southeast Region, 12 congregations did not get accredited interim ministers last year. We want to be one of the congregations that accredited interim ministers will want to pursue! A good interim will help us transition from one settled minister to another. He/she will help us determine what kind of a minister would best meet our needs and work with us to prepare for the search for that ‘ideal’ settled minister.

In the spirit of Love,

Jan Partin
