Despite your political identification, two weeks later and we are still reeling from the national election, as well as the news reports of cabinet appointees and advisors. We are reeling not because of the customary swing of the pendulum from Democratic to Republican leadership. Those of us old enough to vote understand that that it is customary for leadership to ebb and flow. We are reeling because of the celebration of the KKK, because of the nascent plans for a Muslim registry, because of the alt-right leader recommended for primary advisor, because of what all that says about our county, our neighbors, our vision of the world. So, what are we to do? How are we called to respond? I have heard two main responses thus far: make our voices of discontent known and embody radical love of all, including those with whom we might disagree. Join me this morning as we talk about a third path, one that we as people of faith embracing inclusion for all in Henderson County are uniquely called walk, one that involves the challenging, dynamic, and powerful work of deep engagement. There is a path forward for us. Let us explore it together.
