“Keep fresh before me, the moments of my high resolve.” – Howard Thurman. Martin Luther King, Jr. moved people to sustained nonviolent action. Every year, on MLK day, his words stir us and for the most part we let that be enough. This year feels different. Current events make it so. King said, “There comes a time when we must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but we must do it because Conscience tells us it is right.” i.e. if we are to be a people of integrity. What is our position? What is our resolve? This March is the 50th anniversary of the March on Selma.
