Climate change is much larger than a political or scientific issue. It is important, as people of faith, to examine what is happening to people and communities, both within and beyond our country. This talk will present a handful of vignettes detailing climate change’s impacts on several communities, and will tie these events to what we know and what we expect about our changing climate.

Deke Arndt has practiced in weather and climate science for 20 years. He is currently the Chief of the Climate Monitoring Branch at NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center in Asheville. He is in his sixth year as one of two lead editors of the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society’s annual State of the Climate report, which compiles contributions from 420 scientists in 58 countries.
