Here we go again, another voyage around the sun with all seven billion of us hanging on for dear life. The trip can be treacherous and daunting. The trip can be joyful and fulfilling. It is always magical. As we journey together, may we flourish as never before.

Martin Seligman in his book, Flourish, states: “We think too much about what goes wrong and not enough about what goes right in our lives.” He offers us a What-Went-Well Exercise – also called Three Blessings. “Every night for the next week, set aside 10 minutes before you settle in for the night. Write down three things that went well today. Next to each positive event, answer the question, Why did this happen?” And then do it again every night for the following week. Follow that up with gratitude visits. Express your gratitude to someone you never properly thanked. “Your task is to write a note or letter of gratitude to this individual and deliver it in person. Let this person know what s/he did for which you are grateful. Make it sing!”

As we speed along at 67,000 miles per hour around the sun, take deep breaths and marvel at our lifeboat; be grateful as often as you can.
