In a way, I feel as if I have “come back home.” My formative years were in Raleigh in the 1960’s; my parents retired to Hendersonville in the 1990’s and were active in UUFH.

My husband, Mike Short, and I have recently moved to Hendersonville from New Hampshire. We are now “snow birds,” living our winter/spring here and our summer/fall in Belgrade Lakes, Maine.

After entering UNCG in the late 60’s, I transferred to the Univ. of Rhode Island, graduating with a B.S. in Home Economics Education in 1972.

I settled in New Hampshire where I taught middle-high school for a few years, worked as a Health Educator for Planned Parenthood, and eventually retired from a 28-year career as a UNH Cooperative Extension Educator in Family and Consumer Resources. During that period, I also acquired an M. Ed. in Counseling from UNH.

While I had been raised Southern Baptist, it was also during this time that I became active in the UU Church of Manchester, NH. There I met and married my first husband, George Blasco, who sadly passed away in 2005.

I was a member of UUM for 32 years, leading many committees and serving as President of the Executive Board on two occasions.

Mike and I met eight years ago and married last summer. I have happily joined his family (his older son and life-long partner, his younger son and wife, and our granddaughter). My interests include walking, hiking, bicycling, sewing, quilting, and politics.
