Would you like to get more involved in the Green Sanctuary Program? The Green Team has several projects that we would love to have your help!

1. ECO is conducting another Green Home Tour in August. It’s one of the projects the Green Sanctuary has agreed to participate in this year. Please read the following from George Tregay, ECO coordinator. We have assured him we will provide volunteers from UUFH! And please purchase your ticket. It’s well worth it! You can contact me or ECO if you would be able to help.

ECO Green Homes and Edible Garden Tour

The Environmental and Conservation Organization, is presenting its 7th Green Homes and Edible Gardens Tour on Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 10-4. This self-driving tour of seven sites is a fundraiser for ECO and will showcase multiple aspects of sustainability through edible gardens, permaculture, water management, renewable energy and reuse of materials. The locations are either in Hendersonville or less than 7 miles from town.

Volunteers are needed at each location to staff registration tables (sign in and checking tickets) and direct parking. The volunteers work half a day (9:45 to 1:00 or 12:45 to 4) and get a free ticket to participate in the tour during the opposite shift. Call the ECO office at (828) 692-0385 to sign up.

UUFH Contemplation Garden

2. Another project we will be working on is the Contemplation Garden. We envision creating a quiet space for members and friends on the campus to commune with nature or meditate/ relax in the out of doors. We hope to have a water feature, garden bench, chimes, perhaps a peace pole, and native plantings to screen the spot. If you would like to be a part of the planning of this Garden, please contact Ron Partin (rpartin@bgsu.edu), Jan Partin (janpartin@hotmail.com) or Vicki Benavides (re@uufhnc.org)
