As our school year comes to an end, let’s take a moment to pause and recognize some of the milestones our youth are reaching. We have incredible youth who are or have been in our program in the past, and I would like to mention a few of their recent accomplishments.

Rachael Allen is serving this summer as an intern for the National Democratic Party
Benjamin Cottingham was accepted to Stanford Law School.
Hannah McKinley just graduated from UNC Chapel Hill.
Konrad Sanders is presently hiking on the Appalachian Trail.
Adam Bryant and Weston Simmons are in the final stages of becoming Eagle Scouts.
Adam Bryant, Lina Yokote, and Sarah Doss will all graduate from high school in the next few weeks.
Oliver Kompathoum will be working as a Counselor in Training at The Mountain Summer Camp.

These are just a few of the accomplishments of our youth. I will continue to highlight others in the coming months. If you have the opportunity, please pass on your “well-dones” and congratulations to them. We are truly blessed that such a wonderful group of young people are or have been part of the life of this congregation, and we hope to share many more milestones with them in the future.

Family Soul Matters Potluck & Conversation
Friday, June 2, 6pm, Fellowship Hall
Join us as we explore more on our May theme of Embodiment. We just seemed to get a great conversation going when our time together ended last month, so we will be sending out a “conversation starter” prior to the 2nd. We hope you can join us for food, fun, and conversation! Childcare provided. Please bring a dish to share and your own place settings.

Summer Program – Fun & Service
This summer, we will be on a monthly rotation of Service Projects that support the Thrivent/Habitat Building Project, Field Trips, and Fun Days! We welcome our adult members to volunteer to “Lead a Sunday.” If you have ever wanted to help out a bit with the Sunday morning Family Ministry Program, you can partner up with a parent or another FM Volunteer and lead a Fun Day or come on a Field Trip with us. Contact me with questions or to volunteer!

Thrivent/Habitat Build
As you may know, UUFH is joining with other local congregations to work together to build a house in the East Flat Rock Dodd Meadows Community. We are very excited to be part of making home ownership a reality for a family in this area! Our children will also be doing monthly Sunday morning projects in support of this build. See Rich DeSimone if you would like to participate in, or donate to, this very special project. What a great opportunity to live our UU Values!

Youth Rafting Trip
Thursday, June 15
Jim and I will be taking our youth on a rafting trip on the Nantahala! All youth in our congregation are invited to participate. These rafting trips are fun and challenging, and Jim is a great river guide. All expenses for the trip are covered by UUFH. We have several youth already signed up, so please let me know if your youth is interested.  We have room for more.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
Our Faith Development Teachers are the best! On Sunday, June 25, we will host a special luncheon on our playground for these wonderful people. We will be asking all of the non-teaching parents to pitch in to make this celebration memorable. If anyone else in the congregation would like to help us appreciate our teachers, please let me know. We welcome your help.
