Welcome back! Coincidently our Soul Matters Theme for September is Welcome. That seems fitting as we come back together after a summer of activities and travels. We pose the question…What does it mean to be a people of welcome? There is a deep spiritual connection between the smallness of self and the expansiveness of relationship. It’s a curious and wonderful truth: the road to widening the circle often starts with limiting our own size. By becoming “smaller,” we paradoxically are better able to welcome in and receive the gift of “more.” We encourage you to join us this month for worship and the many other Soul Matters related events! –Vicki Benavides, Family Ministry & Community Coordinator
Soul Matters for Families Potluck & Conversation
Friday Sept. 8, 6pm, Fellowship Hall
Our September Theme is Welcome.
Welcoming is most often associated with “bigness.” We speak about “expanding the circle” and making more room. We talk about make ourselves larger through the practice of welcoming in new experiences and new ideas. But there is also the work of becoming smaller. And sometimes that is the even more important work. Please join us for food, fun and conversation. We will allow some time to hear any thoughts you may have on the future of the UUFH Campus. Bring a dish to share and your own place settings. Childcare provided.
Ingathering Service
Sunday Sept. 10
“We gather to…remind ourselves of the home we share, a home that we come back to, whether after a long or short absence, a home we welcome all to make their own…We gather ritually this morning—carrying gifts of our summer—symbols of the water that we have been present with, and which has been present to us. These symbols may call to mind light summer showers, thunderstorms, dewy mornings, misty evenings, and who we were with while there, even if we were alone. Please join us for this service of ingathering as we begin a new program year. Bring a little water from your travels or non-travels to add to our community bowl.
Campus Planning Forum
Sunday, Sept. 17, 12pm, Sanctuary
This is another opportunity voice your opinions concerning our UUFH campus. The purpose of the Forum is to obtain your feedback about options for long-term campus planning, which was identified as a high priority goal in our 2008 Strategic Plan. Over the past several years, the Board has investigated and researched options for facility enhancement. With your feedback, we hope to identify all the options to be considered and their various attributes. You may bring a brown bag lunch to eat in Fellowship Hall before the Forum.

For our 3rd-7th Grade classes we will be using the newest interfaith engagement program: Crossing Paths. Our 8th- 12th Grade offering will be a yearlong Coming of Age Program. There are many ways you can participate!
