Talk: Stroke of the Pen: A Near-Death Chronicle

Speaker: Dr. Jim Nourse

In March 2017, Dr. Nourse was admitted to the hospital with a subdural hematoma. What followed was a close encounter with death and a spiritual opening that continues to inform and inspire his life and work. In this presentation, Jim will discuss the unfolding of this experience, what profound insights have come from it, and ways to connect with sources of inner wisdom.

A clinical psychologist and acupuncturist with offices in Hendersonville and Brevard, Jim has a long-standing interest in ancient and Eastern approaches to understanding the human condition. A graduate of the Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine and a Diplomate in Acupuncture, National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, he has studied meditation from various teachers, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Health Professionals, taught by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., along with Holotropic Breathwork™ as taught by Christina and Stanislav Grof, M.D., Ph.D., Certified Practitioner.

Jim describes his work as Spiritual Mentoring, a process of helping people explore, clarify, and, if necessary, heal the spiritual aspect of their lives, as well as establish a regular spiritual practice.
