In 2008, Karen Armstrong won the TED Prize and made a wish: for help creating, launching and propagating a Charter for Compassion. Last August, our Hendersonville mayor and city council issued an official proclamation designating our city a Compassionate Community. The Unitarian Universalist Association and dozens of UU congregations have already adopted the charter.

The vision of the movement is “A world where everyone is committed to living by the principle of compassion.” Read more about the role of how Religion/Faith/Spirituality plays in supporting the global movement for compassion and how an institution becomes a partner.

If there is sufficient interest, we could schedule a program this spring to learn more and decide as a congregation if we wish to become a partner in this effort. For information or to express your interest, contact Ron Partin.
