Now is the time to recognize someone whose contributions may not be obvious. The Social Justice and Outreach Team (SJOT) is announcing a Call for Nominations for the annual Unsung Hero Award.
SJOT members feel that the work done by members of our congregation ultimately contributes to our goal of bringing justice to our world. We want to make sure that such work is recognized. Also, we hope to build community to recognize such work so we may be aware of and appreciate one another’s efforts.
Those nominated for this award should be UUFH members who have made and continue to make a solid contribution to UUFH and/or the larger community. A nominee’s contributions may not be generally well-known or appreciated by members of the congregation. The aim of the award is to enable the congregation to value and appreciate the full scope of the nominee’s efforts.
To submit a nomination, prepare a one-to-two-page summary telling us why the nominee deserves this award. Be brief but provide necessary specifics and include contact information of the nominator and nominee.
This year’s Unsung Hero Committee is comprised of Tom Repici (last year’s recipient), Harry Corrigan, Donna Gatnarek, Charlotte Corrigan, Jan Partin, and Rev. Jim McKinley. The award will be presented at the Annual Meeting. The person’s name will be added to the UUFH Unsung Hero Award plaque.
Nominations should be placed in the SJOT folder in the office or they may be mailed to SJOT Unsung Hero Award, UUFH, 409 East Patterson St., Hendersonville, NC 28739.
