Like all UU congregations, UUFH is a cooperative and shared community where everyone is an “owner.” We have about 180 members and a number of friends who share the responsibilities of meeting the needs of the church. We members and friends have complete autonomy to determine our own policies and bylaws, hire or ‘call’ the minister of our choosing, and decide the specifics about how we will pursue meaning and serve justice. With all the autonomy comes a great deal of responsibility! All our funds, which we raise ourselves, come from us (members and friends).

We will be hearing from the Canvass Committee over the next few months urging us to make a generous pledge for the coming year. This year more than ever we seek your financial support. The Interim Search Committee will be looking for the interim minister who best meets our needs. In order to help them, we need to make sure we can show that we are an active, healthy, financially stable congregation. Being in competition with 10 or more other congregations for the same ministers means each congregation is working hard to attract the best ones.

We have a thriving, liberal presence in the Hendersonville area, for which I am thankful every day! For Ron and me, our lives are so much richer for having been members of this Fellowship for the past 19 years! We look forward to many more years of calling UUFH home, and bet you do, too!

In the spirit of Love,
Jan Partin
Board President
