“Being an ally with those who are margin-alized and disenfranchised” in whatever way is not something you get to declare; it must be earned and bequeathed. It requires learning and understanding and the building of trust. It is something to become.

February is Black History month. To become an ally, one must continue to show up and not retreat into the privilege of “lives lived with the luxury of indifference about the lives of marginalized /disenfranchised folks.” We often use Offertory Words #672: our prayers and needs “really only need one answer: Let the world not be indifferent … that neither are we indifferent to each other.”

The SJOT Outreach Collection will be for DREAM Scholarships.

We invite you to join us as we gather each Sunday at 10:30am for our service with coffee hour to follow. Dress is casual. Parking is plentiful. Building is accessible. Community is welcoming and encouraging!

Have young ones? Child care for infants and toddlers starts at 10:15 downstairs. Children and youth sometimes start upstairs with “A Time for All Ages” or gather for a special circle downstairs. Then, they go to age-appropriate Family Ministry classes. Our greeters will guide you to the right spot!
