The Fellowship’s Bylaws call for a Committee on Ministries (COM), whose mission is to educate the congregation about working with a professional ordained minister. The Committee serves as a liaison with the congregation, dealing with questions or thoughts about ministry in general. This Committee also meets regularly with the ordained ministers who serve the congregation to discuss how things are going in the life of the congregation.
After a hiatus, members of the COM met on May 18th with Revs. Jim McKinley and Judy Long. We talked about the upcoming workshop with Rev. Dan Hotchkiss, author of “Governance and Ministry.” Members of the Governance Task Group are using this book as the foundation for their work. Hotchkiss will lead participants in a discussion about the governance and structure of the Fellowship as we move into a period of transition that will end with Rev. McKinley’s retirement.
