On Sunday, May 20, the UUFH hosted Angie Hunter of Habitat for Humanity, who spoke at Social Hour about the upcoming Thrivent Builds – Habitat’s home building project. UUFH is participating for a second year in this project to provide an affordable opportunity for home ownership to members of our community. If you would like more information, contact Rich DeSimone for details, including UUFH  crew work dates.

During Angie’s visit, a check for $300 was presented for the Habitat effort from the SJOT Fund. It’s just one of the 2017-2018 donations from this account which is funded by the 10% holdback from each of our Outreach Collections.

SJOT Annual Retreat: As we do each year at this time, SJOT has scheduled a retreat as our June 13 meeting. This event includes only a brief business meeting and then turns to plans for the coming year. We discuss our goals and areas of concentration to launch us off to a solid start in the Fall. Social Justice is a key focus for Unitarian Universalists:  our liberal religious faith calls us, both collectively and individually, to “give life the shape of justice.” If you would like to participate, contact Charlotte Corrigan or Carole Repici for additional information.
