The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Hendersonville purchased the property at 3410 Brevard Road in February 2006, with the idea that we would build a new church there if our congregation grew enough to support a capital campaign. In the meantime, we have rented the home over the past 12 years. The property is 5.44 acres and includes a 1300 sq. foot home with three bedrooms and two baths built in 1952.

At our congregational meeting in November, the congregation voted to proceed with plans to add an addition to the present sanctuary and to sell the Brevard property. The Campus Planning Committee followed up with this request and has listed the property with Beverly-Hanks and Associates for $300,000. It can be viewed if you Google the address and click on the listing with Beverly Hanks.

The committee also hired a contractor to remove the damaged log cabin from our Kanuga Road campus and a few trees that had surrounded the cabin. This work has been completed, and the area will be used for additional parking.

Several weeks ago, members of the Campus Planning Committee, together with a few Board members, visited the campus of the UU Oakridge Church. That congregation erected a new building with funds secured from the sale of their old church. Our hope was to gain insight into their building process and ideas for our addition. It was a successful, enlightening visit!
