For Susan Grider, the first experience with the Presbyterian Church in Bloomington, IL, was with the Cherub Choir at the age of six. After that, she worked her way up through the Angel Choir, the Chancel Choir for high schoolers, and finally, the Chapel Choir for adults.
For Helen Bishop, at the Episcopal Church in Jefferson City, MO, there was the Junior Choir in elementary school, the High School Choir starting in ninth grade, and then the Adult Choir.
The size of our groups may be different, and the theologies are quite different, but the love of music is what counts. Susan and Helen joined the Fellowship choir as soon as they got to Hendersonville in 2003 and have enjoyed working with Music Director Katherine Price and the rest of the choir ever since.
Both say they find fulfillment through music. Along with many areas of service with the congregation, they’ve recently added mahjong as something they enjoy. Music, they both agree, will go on for them “as long as we can hold the choir books in our hands.”
