Pat Wakeley is secretary of the Endowment and Planned Giving Committee and contributes her research and expertise to help the committee with its two major tasks:
1) to encourage people to donate to the Endowment Fund (now over $250,000), and 2) to invest the fund conservatively for current income. She feels that the committee offers its members an interesting mix of marketing and money management tasks. The committee meets four times a year, makes its investment decisions, and works closely with the Board to determine which projects the Endowment Fund will support.
Pat also coordinates a crew of drivers who transport Interfaith Assistance Ministry (IAM) clients to their homes with food and clothing. UUFH began this service twenty years ago. Pat has driven for IAM for 8-10 years, and has managed the driving volunteers for five years. She says, “This service is greatly appreciated by IAM and its clients. We drivers are richly rewarded by direct contact with our neighbors in need. Though this has always been a UUFH project, we are now beginning to reach out to other congregations to expand our pool of drivers.” Drivers are always needed.
