Every person who goes down to our Fellowship Hall on Sunday morning has been impacted by the organizational skills of Becky Elston. She’s the exceptional lady who coordinates and trains the volunteers who keep the pots of coffee brewing, the cream pitchers filled, the table full of refreshments, and the dishwashers loaded. She volunteered in April 2012 to become the chairman of the newly-named Social Hour Team.
Becky obtains team members a month in advance for every Sunday, and mentors them to get them familiar with the routine. She wrote a detailed instruction sheet (posted several places), and this gives the newbie to the team confidence that, if all else fails, read the instructions!
She goes in on Mondays to empty the dishwasher, resupply the cabinets, and tidy the kitchen. She prepares the annual budget, and always has purchased in advance enough coffee and supplies. Please don’t call her the Kitchen Nazi…she prefers Kitchen Gnome!
Becky’s attention to detail and her loyalty to the importance of hospitality make a huge difference to members, friends, and visitors, and play a vital role in the welcoming and accepting atmosphere of our Fellowship.
Becky would be delighted if you call or e-mail her and say, “I’d like to host one Sunday.” It’s an easy way to participate and to promote fellowship.
