The UUFH Social Justice Team is joining with the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) to provide help to Haitians who must rebuild again. Hurricane Mathew struck Haiti on October 4th killing over 1000 people and devastated homes, whole towns, and a fragile infrastructure still recovering from previous hurricanes and the massive 2011 earthquake. Crops were also destroyed and cholera is spreading.
Relief efforts are underway by many groups. UUSC focuses on those who might be missed by conventional aid organizations including stateless refugees deported from the Dominican Republic and the homeless still recovering from the earthquake damages.
Our special collection on the 30th will join the dollars of other UUs in response to the overwhelming needs of Haiti’s people. Bring your checkbook and please give generously.
