It is time for our bi-annual auction. The $8,000 it usually raises is a crucial part of this year’s budget. To make it a another grand success, our congregation must provide the many goods and services, volunteer the 100s of hours of time to organize and conduct the auction, and then show up that day to purchase these items.

It is a lot of fun! It is also a tremendous amount of work. We  appreciate all you have contributed in the past. Because we have  encountered calendar challenges in scheduling the auction this year, I propose we conduct a Stay at Home Auction on Saturday, October 29th.

Consider this: how much would you normally contribute to the auction in time, items, and purchases?Instead of coming to an auction, we ask each member and friend to make a bid (donation) of your choosing. If we average $50 per person, we would make the $8,000 needed. Of course, not all may be able to offer that amount, so we need some to make higher bids. I definitely would be investing 80-100 hours in organizing and conducting this auction; therefore I am offering my bid of $300 to this year’s Stay at Home Auction.

You soon will receive an official invitation with a Bid Card. Enter the amount you are willing to contribute, sign the card and return it to UUFH, then stay home and enjoy October 29th doing something special for yourself.

I know this is a gamble, but I have confidence that our UUFH members and friends will come through!

Cheers,
Ron Partin, Stay at Home Auction Chair
