At UUFH, it is our pleasure to host a reception for family and friends following a Memorial Service for our members. We have an amazing team of 20 volunteers who provide wonderful refreshments, both homemade baked goods and purchased items such as cheese and crackers, fruit trays, and beverages. These volunteers ensure that platters and beverages are refreshed as needed as well as taking care of set-up and clean-up in the Fellowship Hall. All are happy to provide this service; however, the expense of these receptions has fallen on our volunteers, and at times can be costly.
The UUFH Board recently voted to establish a Memorial Service Reception Fund. The Endowment Committee has seeded the fund with $500, and because it is a special fund and not an operating expense, tax-deductible contributions can be made directly to the fund. We hope you will consider contributing to this fund from time to time. Make your check payable to UUFH and indicate “Memorial Reception Fund” in the memo line to ensure your contribution is routed appropriately. This money will not replace the generosity of our volunteers but will supplement the costs of some of the more expensive refreshments.
We make every effort to create a dignified environment in the Fellowship Hall that exemplifies compassion and respect for the family and friends of a departed member. Thank you for considering a contribution to this endeavor.
