On May 12th, the Caregiver’s Support group that began in October 2010, held its last meeting. For over five and a half years of monthly meetings, many UUFH members and friends joined us, worked with us, and then moved on with their lives when their situations evolved. Several members were with us the entire duration. With attrition we have finally reached a point where numbers are too few to continue.
This is not sad but, rather, cause for celebration! So many personal stories passed before us; so many people arrived feeling all alone in their caregiving and discovered there was love, understanding, and support to be found with others in like circumstance. We talked frankly, and trust developed because it was a confidential group. Some of our members chose to stay with us even after their caregiving role ended due to death or other circumstances. We had a chance to support their grief and watch them move on eventually to happier lives.
I salute all who worked with us in such a caring and helpful manner! It was a great privilege to serve as your leader.
Sincerely,
Barbara Eck, Pastoral Associate
