As I write this article, I am reflecting on our December theme: Expectation. What a wonderful feeling of hopeful anticipation this time of year brings to “children” of all ages. I still get that sensation of expectation whenever I contemplate the joys I associate with the holidays. For me it is about family and friends and generosity; not necessarily of material things but more a generosity of spirit that I for one never want to lose. I wish for you this same joy and celebration throughout the holiday season.
Craft Fair
On December 5, our children and youth have created some wonderful treasures to sell at the UUFH Craft Fair. We could use some volunteers at the RE Table during the sale. Let me know if you would like to help!
Mitten Tree
Our holiday celebration starts on December 6 with the beginning of our Mitten Tree clothing drive. Please help us decorate our tree with mittens, hats, gloves, scarves, and any other gifts of warmth. We will distribute our donations to several local not-for-profit agencies in early January.
Holiday Worship
December 13 is the Sunday our children and youth will be featured in a holiday-themed worship service. The children will not be upstairs for the entire service. Come join us for story, song, and celebration of the holiday season.
Cookie Bake
During RE on December 20th, we will be baking all the cookies for Christmas Eve. Our children and youth love being part of this sweet adventure, so this is a Sunday not to miss! We welcome volunteers who don’t usually work in RE to join us as we create some Christmas cookie magic. Contact Karen if you can help.
Christmas Eve
Please join us at 5:00pm on December 24 for our Carols and Candles Service, which ends with singing Silent Night by candlelight. All are invited to stay for cookies and hot cider after the service. Merry Christmas!
Wishing you a blessed holiday season. And to all… Peace on Earth!
