The story of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem is described in all four canonical gospels. The story is the gospel writers’ modern embrace of the ancient Jewish prophecy for the messiah—to enter the city riding on a donkey. According to tradition, palm fronds were placed before him, hence Palm Sunday. though our Unitarian and Universalist forebears understood and embraced a very different Christianity than most of our neighbors. How might we consider or reconsider the story of Palm Sunday? Please join me in this exploration.
