Join The Fun!
“Please join us downstairs after the service for coffee and conversation.” How many times have you heard that invitation at our UUFH services? Great idea. We really do want everyone to join us in Fellowship Hall after the service so we can get to know each other better, share what’s going on in our lives, or perhaps even do a little Fellowship business. But what if I can’t? Not: don’t want to; can’t.
We all have seen the power scooters in the sanctuary and understand that these folks will have a hard time getting down to Fellowship Hall, especially in bad weather, but are they the only ones? What about the member with recent knee or hip replacement surgery? How about the person on a new medication that makes them lightheaded when they stand up? Even the 30-something who made a spectacular slide into third base at last week’s game and is now in a full leg cast for the next three months. All these folks might find it very hard to “join us downstairs,” unless we have an elevator.
Well the time has come for that dream to come true. A very generous donor has given the Fellowship a challenge grant of $20,000 to be used to install an elevator. All we have to do is raise another $25,000 and the dream becomes reality. We can do this! Check out the elevator information at the table in Fellowship Hall to find out how this is going to happen. Help build the excitement. Reach deep into your pocket and contribute to making it happen. And when the time comes that you need a little help getting down to Fellowship Hall to Join The Fun, an elevator will be there to give you a lift.
